Our Story

The SAM & SARA story is an inspirational account of two people who, along with their passion for creativity and the handcrafting skills of the East, set about fusing indigenous Asian artisan skills with modern design interpretations.

Sam, an antique lover and production and design expert – inheriting over 30 years of experience, is the inspiration behind the SAM & SARA designs. Sam inherited his skill-set from his father and grand father, always retaining a passion for utilising the traditional techniques of ancient craftsmanship within his work.

Sara initially pursued a career in banking and consulting which included work with the United Nations, but always longed to apply her business acumen in creative fields. As she became increasingly captivated by art and design, Sara followed her heart and realised the brand concept for SAM & SARA.

Between them, Sam and Sara have travelled to over 50 countries, an achievement reflected heavily in their artistic flair. The SAM & SARA collections represent artistic postcards sent from all corners of the globe, ranging from prestigious English boroughs to the Singaporean botanical gardens and the vineyards of South Africa.

Sam and Sara’s vehement affection for handmade craftsmanship became the driving inspiration for the couple to steer clear of modern day mass production methods and rejuvenate traditional Indian craftsmanship

Whilst Sam and Sara dedicated themselves to understanding the intricacies of ancient craftsmanship, local artisans got to grips with Sam and Sara’s ideas to produce unique lifestyle pieces using unorthodox materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, leather, nickel and reclaimed wood. Relationships blossomed as Sara’s natural flair for creativity and aesthetical vision met with Sam’s eye for detail and extensive knowledge of production.

Fast forward to the present day and Sam and Sara are still as excited about their venture as they were when they first met. Ethical manufacturing and ensuring the sustainability of local communities remain the pinnacle focus points of the company, and their vision to bring contemporary, exclusive, handcrafted innovations from Asia to homes across the globe has been fully realised.
